Who We Are

Dora-Care Behavioral Foundation
Empowering communities with accessible mental health support
About Dora-Care
Dora-Care Behavioral Foundation is a youth-led, non-governmental organization (NGO) advancing access to mental health care through early intervention, community-based care, and professional psychosocial support services across underserved communities in Africa. We exist to bridge the critical gap between mental health awareness and access to care by equipping individuals with practical skills, strengthening community support systems, and connecting them with trained professionals when needed.
Our work spans schools and communities, where we design and deliver programs focused on prevention, early detection, and timely support, ensuring that mental health care is not only understood but also accessible. By combining mental health first aid, education, and professional support services, Dora-Care is building inclusive, scalable systems that empower communities to respond to mental health challenges effectively and sustainably.
Vision & Mission
🎯
Vision
To build a world where mental health support is seamlessly integrated into everyday life, accessible in every school, every community, and for every individual.
🚀
Mission
To expand access to mental health care through early intervention, community-based programs, and professional psychosocial support, equipping individuals and communities with the tools to recognize, respond to, and manage mental health challenges effectively.
Dora-Care Integrated Care Approach (DICA)
At Dora-Care, we recognize that social, economic, and environmental realities shape mental health challenges. Barriers such as poverty, stigma, low awareness, and limited access to care prevent many individuals, especially children and adolescents, from receiving timely and appropriate support.
To address this, we implement a community-driven, integrated care approach that combines mental health support with social care systems, ensuring individuals receive the right level of care at the right time within their communities. Our approach focuses on early identification, capacity building, structured support systems, and continuous care, bridging the gap between need and access, particularly in underserved settings.
Our Stepped Support Model
Providing the right level of mental health support at every stage within communities and without barriers.
